Ok VERY late!
We had our first annual PJ Holiday Party on a Saturday night in December of 2024; moms night in and kids night to craft and play. There was food, drinks, crafts galore, and kids playing. A time was had! We will definitely be making this an annual thing. Watching the cousins play brought back so many great memories from my childhood; my sister and I grew up with our cousins, we did everything together and friends even became cousins. I recognize this isn’t everyone’s norm, so to see our childhood play out in front of us through our kids was really something special for me.
Growing up, our cousins were are first and best friends, we did everything together and are the only ones that hold the key to secrets and embarrassing family moments. We were also lucky enough to have family friends turn into cousins and are forever grateful for that.
I’ve always wanted children for as long as I could remember, being a mom was always in my future. Everything was so easy when I was younger and the future seemed so far away and sometimes felt out of reach. But let me tell you, as you grow up, that future you had planned really comes quite quickly! How do I have two children and know other moms and we all hang out?! It seemed like a lifetime ago that I was planning out my outfits for Spirit Week in high school. Time has a way of humbling you, if you let it; it’s constantly moving yet forces you to slow down.
I love, love watching my children play and explore the world through their lenses; one of my favorite things. Getting a front row seat to them forming their first friendships that may or may not turn into lifelong bonds is truly a privilege that I won’t ever take for granted. Watching them navigate life and figure out how to exist with themselves and others is the best gift. Having other moms in your circle is another treasure that I never want to outgrow.
It’s a blessing to see my children experience their first friendships and bonds with others’ children; instant flashbacks to my own childhood are very humbling. Growing up with my sister and all of our cousins from both sides is my favorite blessing because those first friendships were the foundation for future friendships and relationships. Forever grateful for a childhood that I often look back on and smile; I hope one day my children can do the same.
